Evgeni Shetihin was born in the city of Minsk
in 1960. Evgeni have had time to try himself for many things during his life. He was a manager,
hunter, and journalist, wrote verses and was even engaged in well-boring... The talent has arisen
as a sudden inspiration. It is very difficult and what is more
it is impossible at all to refer artist's works to any genre or kind of art. He is a ceramist,
sculptor and painter in one person. It is also difficult to determine a technique that he worked
with. He says himself that is a technique of big and small relief, bas-relief and small plastic
art. Shetihin's paintings are
three-dimensional. Their canvas is as if it were decoration or background.
But there is a real panorama in the foreground, one created of
clay by means available only to him. Three dimensions give the impression
of penetration to another time space, another world.
It happened to hear that in his work Evgeni resembles Alexander Isachev in some
way, a well famous artist from Rechitsa. Yes, there is some similarity. They were life friends,
you know. But that similarity is just of subjects, fragmentariness of trends and Evgeni
Shetihin has his own manner free from any conventions.
